BURGHLEY BY TWILIGHT ✨ We went to Burghley by T

BURGHLEY BY TWILIGHT ✨ We went to Burghley by Twilight last night – and what a magical way to experience one of our favourite local landmarks. There’s something rather special – and wonderfully exclusive – about being able to wander through Burghley House as the sun goes down, with the State Rooms softly lit and glowing by candlelight. It’s an evocative setting in which to see Burghley’s extraordinary collection of paintings, magnificent interiors and beautiful rooms. And then there’s the music. Classical musicians are dotted throughout the house, so as you move from room to room you encounter everything from wooden recorders, lute and hurdy-gurdy from @danteferraraminstrel to violin, choirs and the beautiful sound of Soraya Vermeulen’s harp (@soraya_says) filling the Great Hall. Add a glass of Prosecco and it really does feel like stepping back into another age, when Burghley’s rooms would have been filled with music and guests arriving for dinner parties and grand evenings. Burghley by Twilight is on again tonight (Fri 2 Oct 2026) and tomorrow night (Sat 3 Oct) , 6–8pm. Tickets £30pp. A lovely way to begin an autumn evening at Burghley. #BurghleyHouse #BurghleyByTwilight #StamfordLiving #whatsonstamford #RutlandLiving

BEHIND THE SCENES 🍂✨ One of the very special things about our magazines is that we commission our own photo shoots – working with brilliant local boutiques to showcase their fabulous collections and bring you plenty of inspiration for the season ahead. For our October fashion shoot, Stamford & Rutland Living teamed up with @cavellsfashion of Mill Street, Oakham, and headed to the beautiful @keythorpe_hall . Taking you from autumn right through to party season, there’s a little Traitors-inspired country style – think capes, Wellington boots, kilts and chunky knitwear – alongside plenty of country-house glamour. And all the beautiful clothes you see in the shoot are in the boutique now. Huge thanks to the lovely team at Cavells for styling our gorgeous models, Olivia and Fran. And enormous thanks, too, to Barbara and Giles for allowing us to take over their beautiful home at Keythorpe Hall for the day, and to the wonderfully talented photographer @ellideanphotography for capturing it all so beautifully. See the full fashion story in our October issue – in print, online and on the Living Mags app. Keep an eye on Keythorpe Hall’s socials and website for details of events and their next supper club dates. And watch @thecelebritytraitors from 1 October (tonight)! #rutlandliving #Cavells #KeythorpeHall #TheTraitors ClaudiaWinkleman

OUT NOW! OUR OCTOBER 2026 ISSUES! 🍂 We’re delighted to let you know that our new October issues of Stamford Living and Rutland Living are out now – in print | online | on the Living Mags app & Readly. October is such a lovely month – richer colours, changing seasons and, dare we say it, the first thoughts of Christmas. And this issue has something of all of that… 🍂 We spent a wonderful day at beautiful @keythorpe_hall with @cavellsfashion, shooting our autumn fashion feature – heritage style, gorgeous textures and more than a hint of Traitors-inspired glamour. Beautiful... 🥂 We’re looking ahead to Christmas and New Year (yes, really!) with Eat, Drink & Be Merry – our guide to some of the loveliest places locally for festive dining, parties and celebrations. ⚽ We shine a spotlight on The Stamford Daniels, discovering the people, passion and community behind our local football club. 🌿 At @rutlandnursery, we look ahead to a new season, with so much to see, do and enjoy this autumn. Some incredible names are visiting for Authors in Conversation and workshops. 🌰 And we celebrate one of our area’s most wonderfully eccentric traditions – the @worldconkerchampionships, returning to Southwick and @thesouthwickshuckburgharms this October. 🍎 Finally, our food pages embrace apple season – surely one of the loveliest flavours of autumn. Plus beautiful interiors, beauty, wellbeing, food and drink, what’s on and plenty more from across our lovely patch. Pick up a copy, settle down with a coffee and enjoy! Some shots from our first couple of days up at @burghleyhorsetrials #DBHT 🐎 We absolutely love Burghley week – the beautiful horses, meeting local businesses on their stands, catching up with people in the press tent, meeting riders and chatting about the course… and generally soaking up that incredible Defender Burghley buzz. And one of our favourite things is handing out the magazine and seeing the reaction to our big Burghley feature! Inside, you’ll find our piece from Press Day with course designer Derek di Grazia, Event Director Martyn Johnson and Event President Miranda Rock, our fun Insider’s Guide to Burghley, plus the lowdown on some of the brilliant local businesses you’ll find around the showground. We loved putting it all together and hope you enjoy reading it – do pick up a copy if you spot us! And, naturally, there’s been time for a little Burghley treat too… a glass of Pol Roger! 🥂 @burghleyhorsetrials #DBHT #DefenderBurghley #BurghleyHorseTrials #StamfordLiving RutlandLiving

What a fabulous day at the Rutland Flower Show! I

What a fabulous day at the Rutland Flower Show! It’s year two of the Show. It was wonderful last year… This year it’s even more amazing. This year we’re delighted to be sponsoring the Rutland Garden Theatre – and today we were very lucky to spend a little time behind the scenes in the green room, where we met gardening icon the_carol_klein, among other fabulous speakers. Here she is with our August issue!!! We had such a lovely chat with Carol about propagation, planting, the Show and the challenges of gardening in the current climate. Her advice? Mulch, mulch, mulch. And when it comes to watering, get out first thing in the morning (even better apparently than in the evening). We also talked about the glorious @cotonmanorgarden just beyond our patch, which features in Carol’s wonderful Great British Gardens series. We first visited after seeing it on her programme, promptly bought a membership and have been regular visitors ever since. If you haven’t been, it really is somewhere special Carol’s talk in the garden theatre with the brilliant Chris Young of @seewhygarden was everything you could want it to be – engaging, funny and packed with gardening wisdom. The theatre itself looked gorgeous, with beautiful flowers around the stage from @whitegooseflowerfarm And there is so much more to see around the show. The plant stands are gorgeous, the Grand Marquee is looking magnificent and the new Floral Marquee is a brilliant addition, with expert floral design advice alongside some truly beautiful displays. Then there are workshops, food, live music from local bands and nostalgic vintage fairground rides. Something for all the family. Easy parking too! Plus many loos! Huge congrats to the incredible team behind this wonderful event, a favourite fixture now in the local calendar. It continues at the Rutland Showground tomorrow (Sun 16 Aug).
